If you are involved in court proceedings in Perth, Western Australia, then it may be necessary to obtain a lawyer based in Western Australia.
The Magistrates Court of Western Australia (formally known as the “Local Court”) is divided into two jurisdictions: the criminal and civil jurisdiction.
The Magistrates Court is divided into two divisions:
1. General Procedure Claims; and
2. Minor Case Claims
The Magistrates Court only has the jurisdiction to hear claims up to $75,000.
If you believe that you have a legal claim, then we always recommend that you write a letter of demand to them giving the person a reasonable amount of time to pay your demand. We usually recommend that you give between 14 -28 days to pay.
