Early warnings of alcoholism

Most people, especially the astute lot would hate to review their alcohol abuse or use scenario and usually this is a good decision, for short term. Early warnings about alcohol, the real problems that is, not the imaginary ones, would help people and help stop some of the misconceptions many of us believe.

Misuse or over use of alcohol can show us the way towards the development of an on-going and irreparable condition that can possible lead to an incurable “disease” for which recovery is a very difficult undertaking and considering the thought that this condition is far worst than getting drunk, is an idea that often misleads most of us. This situation is further muddied by most “assessments” which only serve to justify one-size-fits-all treatment that almost never includes either moderation or real recovery as options. It has been said that the considerable amount of a healthy alcohol consumption for an adult man are as follows: two drinks of distilled spirits, two bottles of beer, or one half bottle of wine per day; and half of this intake should be enough for adult women. Of course you would neither find people sticking to these preset limits nor do they stop at one or two drinks. For instance, it is possible that one may land up drinking a bit too much during any special social function but on an average one should restrict his consumption within the set guidelines.

Alcohol abuse is defined as consumption which consistently exceeds the recommended levels and/or is done in isolation rather than socially. What can contribute to this situation are the frequent occurrence of being left behind or being alone, fatigue, and not having enough company to get along with or dynamic activities to focus his or her attention to. Arbitration is the normal practice at this stage with the aim to bring down the consumption level to healthy limits but counseling advice could cull out the real reasons behind this condition and can help restore normalcy…
