GIA Certified Diamond

When choosing a diamond, it is always best to go with one that is a GIA certified diamond. With these, you will always know that you are getting the best quality for your money.
Diamonds that are certified by the Gemological Institute of America are classified into four categories: carat, color, clarity, and cut.
Carat basically refers to the size. The larger the carat, the larger the size of the diamond. Most ones for jewelry are usually one carat or less.
Color is the second category that is looked at. Colorless or closest to colorless ones are usually the most valuable. The grading of color is lettered, with D being colorless and then going down to the letter Z.
Clarity refers to the absence of blemishes and defects. Since these are formed from the earth, there will naturally be some imperfections. Diamonds which do not have these are extremely rare and expensive. Clarity is graded on a scale from flawless to ones that have obvious defects or inclusions.
Finally, the cut will affect how it sparkles. This is graded on a scale from excellent to poor. The better the cut, the more it will reflect light and look more brilliant.
When choosing the perfect diamond, all of these things should be considered. Another important consideration would be your budget. A GIA certified diamond should be something to be cherished, but it should not be something that negatively affects your finances. Your jeweler can assist with financing if necessary. With the help of the jeweler, you will find the right one.
